Ali Masood

Welcome! I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at California State University, Fresno.

My research and teaching interests are in American political institutions, judicial politics, and research methodology. The substantive focus of my research lies at the intersection of judicial decision-making behavior and the policy impact of the courts. I am particularly interested in exploring hierarchical interactions within the courts, especially U.S. Courts of Appeals applications of the U.S. Supreme Court's precedents. My methodological interests center on measurement theory and improving statistical inference.

I received my Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of South Carolina in 2016. My research has been published or is forthcoming at American Politics Research and the Journal of Law and Courts.
